You can build a basic site. The next step is finding someone who'll pay for one. Pick a contractor, ask if he wants to see a better direction, and build the demo after he replies yes. Then show it, name the price, and work toward the sale.
No degree, no background in this, prison before any of it. The system below doesn’t care where you started.
You don't need a demo for every name on your list. Start a conversation. Build for the owner who wants to see your direction.
Plumbers, landscapers, roofers, pavers. Look for a specific problem you can improve, such as a page that's hard to use on a phone.
"Hey, I noticed your website has a few issues and probably isn't bringing in many new customers on its own. I have a better direction in mind. Want to see it?"
That's the message I recommend now. If he has no site, say that instead. Keep the opening about what you found.
Use AI and plain HTML and CSS to show a better version of his business online. Make it specific to his services and town. Don't claim you've built it in the first message.
Send the demo link. Let him open it on his phone and ask questions about something he can see.
Agree on the scope, payment, and hosting. If he buys, finish the site, test it, and hand it over.

You get the kit and one useful email a week about building sites, finding clients, and running the business. Unsubscribe anytime.
Put your email in and the download button shows up on the next screen. A copy goes to your inbox as backup. The sender's new, so check spam if it's not there.
Will Ray. I did time, got clean, and taught myself to code with no degree and no connections. Eight years clean now. I run a web agency for contractors and raise two teenagers while I build the rest in the open. I’m a few steps ahead of you, not a guru.
