This is the plain-English version of what happens with your information when you visit heywillray.com or sign up for something here. No tricks, no fine print built to confuse you. If anything below isn't clear, email me and I'll explain it.
Who runs this site
heywillray.com is run by Will Ray. When I say "I" or "me," that's who you're dealing with. When I say "you," that's you, the person visiting the site or signing up.
What I collect
Two things, basically:
- What you give me. If you sign up for my monthly letter, I collect your email address. If you email me or book a call, I get whatever you send.
- What's collected automatically. Like almost every website, my host keeps standard server logs: your IP address, browser type, the pages you visited, and the date and time. That's normal hosting data used to keep the site running and secure.
- Basic page counts, done by me. I still count visits myself, on my own server. Each visit records the page you looked at, the site you came from if there was one, and a scrambled code worked out from your IP address and browser. That code changes every day, so it can't be used to follow you from one day to the next, and it can't be turned back into you. Your actual IP address and browser are never written down. The counts are deleted after 90 days. I use this to see which pages are worth keeping.
- Analytics tools. As of August 2026 I also run Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Microsoft Clarity on this site. These see things my own counter doesn't: general location, device type, how far you scroll, what you click, and anonymized session recordings. They set their own cookies. I use this to see what's actually working, and if I ever run ads, to know whether they're worth the money.
I don't collect your name, phone number, address, or payment details on this site. Purchases and bookings happen on other platforms (see "Other services" below), and they handle that data, not me.
How I use it
- To send you the monthly letter, if you asked for it.
- To answer you when you reach out.
- To keep the site working, fast, and secure.
That's it. I don't sell your data. I'm not in that business.
The email list
My monthly letter runs on Hostinger Reach. When you sign up, your email is stored there so I can send you one email a month. You can leave any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email, and you're gone. The consent checkbox on the signup form stays on purpose, so it's always your choice.
Other services I use, and where your data can go
When you click out to one of these, you're on their turf and their privacy policy applies:
- Hostinger handles the hosting and the email list (Hostinger Reach).
- Stripe handles the checkout and your payment info if you buy the book. Your card details go to Stripe, never to this site. If you buy, this site keeps a record of the order (email and order ID) so it can deliver your download and help you if something breaks.
- Topmate handles the scheduling and payment if you book a call.
- Google Fonts serves the site's fonts, which means Google may see your IP address when a page loads.
- Google Analytics & Tag Manager track visits and behavior on this site so I can see what's working.
- Microsoft Clarity records things like scroll depth, clicks, and anonymized session replays.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate or referral links, for tools and services I actually use. If you click one and sign up, I might earn a commission at no extra cost to you. I only point at stuff I'd recommend anyway. Assume any outbound link to a product could be one of these.
Cookies
The site uses a small essential cookie to keep things working, like a basic session and a security token on forms. Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, and Microsoft Clarity also set their own cookies to recognize return visits. The email signup and any embedded tools may set their own cookies too. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; the essential ones are what keep the site functioning.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- Ask what data I have on you.
- Ask me to correct or delete it.
- Unsubscribe from the letter any time.
If you're in the EU or UK (GDPR) or California (CCPA), those rights are spelled out in law, and I'll honor them the same way for everyone. Just email me.
How long I keep things
I keep your email on the list until you unsubscribe or ask me to remove it. My own page counts are deleted after 90 days. Server logs roll off on my host's normal schedule.
Kids
This site is for adults building a business. It's not aimed at anyone under 16, and I don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child sent me information, email me and I'll delete it.
Security
I use a reputable host and standard protections like HTTPS. No site is bulletproof, but I'm not collecting sensitive data here in the first place, which is the best protection there is.
Changes to this policy
If I change this policy, I'll update the date at the top. For any big change, I'll mention it in the letter.
